Optical Express using known Spammer Frankdata
Yes, yet another company buying lists of e-mail addresses from and using the spamming services of Frankdata in breach of the legislation. This time it’s Optical Express.
Two e-mail messages, both entitled “Freedom from specs and contacts with laser eye surgery” but sent to two different domain names and two different users, a “Richard Gummer” and a “Richard Rooke”. Obviously these two names are fictitious and only exist on Frankdata’s spam database.
Optical Express have promised to investigate and get back to me…

Optical Express emailed me a week ago saying that when I joined Friends Reunited I had apparently agreed to “receive offers from carefully screened companies”. Friends Reunited also say I did, but has yet to explain how they reconcile this with their privacy policy which says
“We, and (where relevant) our credit card processing agents, will not supply your personal data to a third party for commercial exploitation – thus, you can rest assured that we will not sell the lists of our Members’ email addresses to a third party”.
Well OE never did get back to me; surprise, suprise!
I joined Friends Reunited when it first started up and specifically opted-out of receiving any third-party communications.
In any event, both the e-mail addresses used by the spammer have only been added by the spammer and are not “legitmate” user e-mail addresses anyway, so FR is a bit of a red herring in my case at least.
