K I M S Plumbers Revisited
Well as the heating had gone off I thought we should take a look at the boiler ourselves and the work that K I M S Plumbers had done. As we expected, it had lost pressure, so we needed to repressurise  it. And then that’s when we saw this:
Yes, that’s been left disconnected…

As I post my wife is at home awaiting the 6th attempted visit from KIMS, who I had not had the pleasure of dealing with until now.
It’s become more of a personal quest to get this lot to turn up, let alone fix the boiler. They are without doubt the most incompetent company I have had the displeasure of dealing with. At least since our last RyanAir flight.
The saga of the 6 attempts is too long and to be frank painful to discuss in full. But needless to say it’s been different engineers each time all of which do not have the parts even if they were ordered on the previous visit. 2 of the visits were aborted i.e. no shows on their part & one engineer got no 6 and no 9 mixed up on the address according to the rude chav in the KIMS office. If he cannot read its prob a good thing he never had chance to look at the boiler.
On our job KIMS are sent via Tesco home insurance through Homeserve how many companies dose it take to fix a boiler?
In our case just the one … and it was not KIMS. They managed to take a boiler that needed a little fettling into a state where they said it was dangerous and about to explode.
So we ended up having to get British Gas to supply and install a new boiler for us.
Bless them! And now the insurers are (supposedly) looking into it on the basis that they’re going to be charged for a shedload of parts that weren’t needed and costs that were ramped up to make good defects that weren’t there before.
Why is this firm still being used by Homeserve. Only googled the name out of interest to see if anyone else had suffered at their hands as we have done and look what I find!!!!!
Similar story……….now 3 weeks mostly without heating and hot water. Replaced several parts on boiler then when that didnt solve problem said it was oil feed and came prepared to dig up drive and lay new pipes. We only had drive laid last September so you can imagine the husbands response. Cleaned out oil feed pipe and still kept locking out. Then said the flue was faulty and causing the lock outs. SO WHY WERE THEY GOING TO DIG THE DRIVE UP??? We are now having a new boiler fitted on Weednesday.
